Why I build websites in WordPress

Why I build websites in WordPress

There are a million ways to build a website. Using the WordPress framework is just one of them. I develop primarily in WordPress and today I wanted to explain why I utilise it for many of my clients’ projects. Every site is different and every business’ requirements are varied. It’s about hiring a designer or developer who can understand these goals and create a website that works for your needs.

Why I choose WordPress to Build Websites

Over 450 million websites in the world use WordPress. It’s an incredibly popular platform to use for building websites with a market share of 43%. Its popularity is just one of the reasons I utilise it. Let me explain why.

Flexibility & Versatility

WordPress is known for its robust, versatile and flexible platform that is applicable for lots of different website styles and designs. It can be used for bloggers, service businesses, eCommerce sites and one-page wonders. There are many different themes to choose from, plugins to use and if you have the skills, anything can be accomplished.

I like the flexibility that WordPress offers because every client can get a unique site that works for their needs. It also makes it incredibly easy to add extra parts later on in time. Whether that’s an update to pages, posts, design or functionality, it’s not constrained by size in any way.

Easy to Utilise for Staff

It is easy to use for non-coders allowing my clients to control and manage their site without much extra assistance. WordPress.org started as a free blogging site, I even had one myself, but it later developed into an open-source website framework. It was built to be user friendly and allow people to share their thoughts and ideas online easily. Anyone who can use a computer or mobile phone can easily utilise the basic features of WordPress and keep their site up to date.

While not everyone has the time or expertise to develop a site, for most instances I give clients access to their website and teach them how to update it. This way they are able to reduce costs and keep their site up to date on their terms.

No Tie Ins

There are thousands of quality WordPress Developers out there, so by building the site in WordPress, it’s easy for clients to go elsewhere whenever they want. They are not tied to a restrictive platform or beholden to the person that built it. There can be all sorts of reasons why you may not continue working with the people that first built your site, from businesses changing focus, pricing changes or you’re just not happy with the work performed. Whatever the reason, a WordPress site can be easily transferred to another hosting provider or developer to be worked on.

I have experienced clients in the past who have paid outrageous amounts of money for a very lovely site but it’s built in a coding language that is not common. This means they may have paid over the odds for a site that could have been developed for a lower cost. Plus, if they want to change providers, they may find it difficult. My choice of WordPress is as much an ethical marketing decision as it is practical.

I’m Experienced In It

One of the most important reasons why I use WordPress is that I am experienced in it. WordPress is built using the PHP coding language and this is the language I first learnt to develop in. My experience and knowledge allow me to complete design and development projects very rapidly and to a high standard. Furthermore, I believe the websites I build in WordPress are particularly focused on speed and SEO. I know it’s where my strengths lie, so I continue to hone and practise my skills in WordPress web development.
