Most of my clients are wanting to begin some sort of SEO work on their site but don’t know where to start. Most websites I audit have been live for many years with minimal work being undertaken from an SEO perspective. They may also be very old with out of date technology and design, and most don’t have the skills, experience or time to tackle this work themselves.
Objectives
For the majority of my audit clients, they are looking to get a clear understanding of where their site is falling down in terms of their search engine optimisation and how they can improve it.
Suggested Solutions
While each audit is tailored to the website, the majority of my website audits look at the following areas; website analytics analysis, design & content review, on-page analysis, technical SEO review, Off-page SEO analysis, target audience and keyword research. All audits also include a plan of action which usually covers 3 to 6 months of suggested work and content.
Implementation
The process for my SEO audits are simple. Clients provide access to their website, any analytics they have and Google Search Console. I then collect all the data and evidence from these areas as well as research from external sources and start analysing the site.
I create an audit report to layout and discuss my findings, providing actionable steps for the reader to take and evidence to back up my results. The audits, which range from 4000 to 6000 words, are then sent to the client to read and review. They then have the opportunity to ask any questions and can arrange a meeting to walk through the audit.
Depending on their or their teams skill level, they may be able to start implementing work themselves, while others will want me to handle any future changes to the site. I’ve worked with a really mixed set of companies, some would rather handle all their own content, some already have developers in place for technical work, or are working with another SEO agency and wanted an outside perspective. Our SEO audits are their to provide clear data and guidance and no hard sell.
